This is where I ate lunch today. Saw one hummingbird and one lizard. Got pretty hot today too. 93. Not looking forward to another long, hot, dry Summer.

03-30 Electronics
This is a picture of dead things. I should have added one of the HUGE mosquito's that are always flying into the house now. So ready for March to be over. Not that April will be any better.
The camera decided not to power up anymore. A problem that should have been recalled with this model but Canon would rather have more money from it's consumers. And the phone won't charge anymore. A replacement will be here on Monday. Any other electronics die on us and I'll puke.

03-29 Photos
We hiked with Brian for about two miles yesterday before we headed back to the car. This was my chance to slow down and snag some nice pictures of the kids.
03-28 Lake Georgetown
Brian hiked all the way around Lake Georgetown. It took him almost 12 hours to do the 26+ mile hike. The kids and I met up with him for lunch at one of the parks and then hiked with him for a bit. We did 2 miles in with him and then turned around and headed back to the car. Here are a few pictures from his day.
Cool flower garden & water falls in the middle of no where. Needed a boat (which he forgot to pack) to get a better picture of the falls. You can get to this garden from Cedar Breaks Park. It's a 5 mile hike in and back out.
The trail thru a small stream had stepping stones and dry spots laid out making a path. The next logical step was this set of roots where this guy was camouflaged. Brian came inches from stepping on the poor guy.
A huge flock of 'vultures' began circling above us waiting for one of us to kick the bucket. Pretty neat to see that many birds flying in a huge spiral. You could hear the wind blowing past their wings.
Brian leaves his family behind to finish his hike. It rained most of the remaining 8-9 miles. It was so fun with those heavy mud caked boots that looked more like snow shoes ! Had to protect the phone so no more pictures.

03-26 Mic
Mic wants bangs, not sure she'll like them. So we played on the computer yesterday. =) We made these pictures at Taaz Virtual Makeover. It was free.

03-25 Gabe's Home
Gabe is home from his weekend away with the youth group. Last year he came home with a scraped up knee and he did it again this year. Not bad though. ;-) Currently he is happily playing the new game he bought on Friday before leaving. Such a cute little gamer.
03-24 Epic Son
Just noticed Gabe's 'to do' list for Friday. I had to take a picture of it.

Another photo that was deleted. All I remember is that he said, "Be epic!" at the end.

03-22 PreSchool
Another craft we did at preschool. Today we talked about circles so we made a caterpillar using circles.

03-21 Lunch
Michaela fixed little pizza's for lunch today. She used an English muffin sliced in half, spread some pizza sauce on it, a few peperoni's, and then mozzarella on top. And we must not forget the ranch to dip the pizza in. Mic cooks hers in the microwave for a bit and I like to heat mine in the toaster oven.

03-19 Storms
Here is the current radar. Tornado's have been down near San Antonio. We are just watching and waiting for the rain to get here. Hoping to get some good rain tonight! I put a yellow star at about where we sit. =)

03-17 Fire
We had a lazy Saturday. I pulled weeds from flower pots and planted some seeds. Even decided to put the hummingbird feeder out just in case. And guess what? One buzzed by before I could get the feeder hung.
We grilled hot dogs for supper and then started a fire (without matches) to roast marshmallows for s'mores. Gabe was more interested in playing with the fire.
After everyone went in I sat by the fire as it died and read more of The Hunger Games. Finding it hard to put that book down. A much better story than Twilight. ;-)

03-16 Chalk Ridge Falls Park
Today we went to Chalk Ridge Falls Park located just outside of Belton. We had planned to do a 5 mile hike but the brush that we had to get through and the lack of markers on the trail made us cut the hike 1 mile short of 5.
There were several cool spots to stop and explore. Here is a huge tree over the river. Brian walked over it and then I stood on it to
take this photo of the falls. I imagine this is a better water fall after a good rain.
Here is the very cool cable suspension bridge. Mic was quite nervous about it.
A small cave up a hill away from the trail.
We saw many huge trees and weird tree trunks. This is a tree that has several small trees growing from one of the branches near the top of the trunk.
Here is the view down the Lampasas River from a spot that we
took a final break. At this point Gabe was ready to turn back and we were all tired of keeping our eyes open for and dodging the poison ivy. It was a warm, humid day but we were so glad that the sun stayed behind clouds most of the hike.

03-15 Weenie Roast
A couple of families from church got together today and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Too bad most everyone was busy today but all the kids had fun anyway!! =)
03-14 Austin Rodeo
We took our first trip to the rodeo. Couldn't shell out hundreds of dollars to see the fun part but, we did see some animals (not very many) and we also watched some pig races but, what the kids really wanted to do was ride the carnival rides. Here they are about to go into the Haunted Mansion. Both thought it was lame.
And here about to be dropped from the sky. The ride like this at Six Flags is much more scary since the drop is farther. Mic didn't barf but she said she was scared after this one.

03-13 Lake Georgetown
Today we did a 5 mile hike at lake Georgetown. Brian wants to do the hike around the whole lake, over 20 miles. I don't think I can make that. Feeling old.
My first panorama photograph. This is Lake Georgetown.
Found a few bluebonnets along the way.

03-12 Wading
Went for a walk on the trails at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock today. Nice warm 80 something degrees today. We went off the trail and Michaela waded in the river.
03-11 Rain
We had a rainy weekend. Loved it all. The sun finally came out today and looks like we will have a good Spring Break, weather wise.
Saturday, March 10
03-10 Glasses
Here they are. The kids in their new glasses. Gabe got a different shape and Mic is doing this for the first time. I think it's going to take her a while to get used to being able to see. I'm glad that she is ready to show them off cause at first she was a little upset about having to wear glasses.
Getting the glasses fitted for the first time.
03-09 Optometrist
After asking Mic to read a sign that was at a distance the other night we realized she needed to see the eye doctor. So we took both kids in cause Gabe also needed a new prescription. Here Mic waits wondering what this will be like.
This is how Gabe tries on and searches for his new pair of glasses.
And here is how Mic works.

03-06 Collage Art
Here is some more art by Lola. =) She cut up some paper with colors and designs and glued them on the paper. She wants me to laminate it for her and then she will probably pin it on her bedroom wall along with all her other art creations.

03-05 Michaela's Mess
She has no sense of clean. Here's before.
She looks so excited doesn't she?
03-04 Sunset
It's hard to get a photo up on Sunday's when I go to the prison. It was a beautiful Sunday and we took Jo to a park for a walk but I didn't take any pictures on the walk.
Here is a sunset from Burnet Texas. They say Burnet has the most beautiful sunsets and I have seen several beautiful ones there but, the past two Sunday's weren't spectacular. No clouds in the sky to make the rays and colors. But here is what I saw last night. Or at least what I could capture on my phone.
